Earlier Story
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) - Fairview Heights Police say three men are in custody for their alleged role in an armed robbery Thursday night.

Police arrived at a Chili’s restaurant just before 9:30 last night on N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights. Witnesses there said three masked men, two armed with guns, entered the restaurant.

The men allegedly stole money from the restaurant and from as many as 20 people sitting at the bar. Witnesses say the men showed their guns and threatened them as they fled.

Fairview Heights Police were able to obtain “detailed descriptions” of the suspects’ vehicle and it was spotted a short time later on I-64 near East St. Louis.

Police say the suspects refused to pull over, leading them on a chase across the Mississippi River.

The suspects abandoned their car on Gamble St. on the city’s north side and fled on foot. They were taken into custody a short time later by Illinois State Police, St. Louis Police, and Fairview Heights Police.

Formal charges have not yet been filed but police say they found evidence, including two BB guns used in the robbery, in the suspects’ car.
