SE Missouri Bridge Explosion Under Investigation

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Federal authorities and the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department are investigating an apparent explosion at a county bridge.

The explosion occurred early Sunday near Oak Ridge. The Southeast Missourian reports that no one was hurt but people living near the bridge on County Road 459 reported hearing a loud noise.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is helping with the investigation. Authorities say the damaged appeared to have been caused by some type of explosive device.
