Shooting in St. Louis County, Teen Suspect Sought

Updated: St. Louis County police have identified the teen killed Tuesday as 19-year-old Akeem Mayes of St. Louis. Police found Mayes on the doorstep of the residence.
The shooting happened about 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brentwood Townhomes, near the Norwood Hills Country Club. Police say Mayes and a second person knocked on a couple’s door, then exchanged gunfire with the male resident. Officers have not said what prompted the shootout.
Police are still searching for the man who was with Mayes.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – St. Louis County Police are searching for a teenager who shot and killed another teen Monday morning outside an apartment complex in Country Club Hills.
When officers arrived at the complex on Eagle Valley Drive around 10:30 a.m. they found the man in his late teens suffering from a gun shot to the head. He died at the scene. Eagle Valley Drive is near Norwood Hills Country Club.
“We know there was an exchange in gunfire, but the determining factor which led to the gunman being shot is still under investigation,” Officer Randy Vaughn told KMOX.
Police say another teen was spotted running from the scene. He is described as wearing gray paints and a black t-shirt. He is about 6’1″ – 6’2″, with a skinny build.
Vaughn said he is considered armed and dangerous.
