ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – What a difference a year makes — one of the hottest, driest summers in Missouri history was followed this year by an extremely mild, dare say, pleasant one.
But just how ‘nice’ of a summer was it?
Scott Truett, senior forecaster with the National Weather says, “July was actually two degrees cooler than normal and so far this August we’re averaging a little bit less than 3.5 degrees below normal.”
Despite this recent sting of hot humid weather, Truett says so far we’ve only had two days of above-average highs for the month of August.
Compare that to a year ago when Truett says the average daily temperature was 8 degrees above normal at 98.6 degrees during a scorching Summer of 2012.
