ST. LOUIS (AP) A St. Louis trolley project is at risk of losing $22 million in federal funding after questions were raised about delays and management.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://is.gd/Q58nPh ) reports that the loss of money would in effect kill the Loop Trolley. The grant covered more than half the project’s cost.
Trolley planners now face a mid-October deadline to produce final plans for the streetcar line between the University City library and Missouri History Museum. They also must address other concerns.
The Federal Transit Administration said in a letter to the district overseeing the line’s construction and to regional planners that the agencies in charge had made “insufficient progress.” The May 31 letter also warned that the federal grant was in jeopardy.
