Man Accused of Killing Stray Cat During Dispute

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) – A southwestern Illinois man faces a felony animal cruelty charge after authorities say he killed a stray cat by hitting the animal with a metal bed frame.

The (Alton) Telegraph reports that 25-year-old Elijah Ingram of Alton was charged Friday in Madison County after allegedly killing the cat during a domestic dispute with a woman living with him.

Police say that after the woman left the home, Ingram ransacked the home and brought in a stray cat, killed it and left it for the woman to find when she returned.

Authorities say the home’s occupants had been feeding the cat.

Online court records don’t show whether Ingram has an attorney. His home telephone number is unlisted.
