Man Accused of Randomly Stabbing Glen Carbon Couple
GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KMOX) - The worst fears about a stranger knocking on your door came true for a Glen Carbon couple.
Police say it happened Sunday afternoon when a homeowner answering his door was confronted by a man claiming to have car trouble. But when the homeowner offered to let the man use his phone, the suspect charged him with a knife and began stabbing him.
The homeowner was able to grab his own knife and stab the suspect in return.
A woman who tried to help the victim was also slashed.
Police charged Grant Connor, 28, Tuesday with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of home invasion for what police say was a random attack.
Connor remains hospitalized.
Authorities have not released the name of the man and woman who were stabbed. They were treated at a hospital and released.
