Two Charged in Cell Phone Theft at Metro Stations

BELLEVILLE, IL. (KMOX) – Two East St. Louis men are charged with Robbery and Theft after allegedly swiping cell phones from MetroLink riders.

Officials say last Thursday there were two separate thefts. In the first, around “three” in the afternoon, a suspect grabbed an i-phone from a passenger riding a train near the Washington Park Station.

The second theft occurred at the Jackie Joyner Kersey Station. There, a suspect grabbed a Galaxy phone from a woman.

In both cases the suspects ran from the scene but were caught by St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputies with the help of Metro Security.

Charged are 23 year old Delas Carter and 21 year old Roderick Roberson Junior.

Both are in the St. Clair County jail. Carter’s bond was set at $50,000. Roberson Junior’s bond is set at $40,000.
