PARK HILLS, Mo. (KMOX) - They are small and you may have never heard of them, but Mineral Area College says it is the safest college campus in the State of Missouri.
Campus Police Chief Mark Potratz told KMOX there have been no robberies, assaults or rapes over the last year and the campus saw a 33 percent drop in liquor use.
The college has invested in safety including an extensive video monitoring system on campus.
But does the size of the student body, just 2,500 students make a difference?
Or the fact that the average student is 23 to 24 years old?
Chief Potratz said yes it does, adding the hope is that older students do in fact mature and make better choices.
Mineral Area College is about 65 miles away from St. Louis.
