NEW YORK (KMOX) - St. Louis Blues forward Alexander Steen leads the NHL in goals scored, and on Friday he picked up the league’s player of the month honors for October.

Named The NHL’s First Star, Steen had 11 goals in October, scoring in nine of 10 games and on 35.5% of his shots on goal, to help the Blues pick up 16 out of a possible 20 points (7-1-2).

The 29-year-old Winnipeg native leads the Blues and ranks fifth in the NHL with 16 points (11-5—16) in 10 games.

The NHL’s Second Star for October is Pittsburgh forward Sidney Crosby.

San Jose goalie Antti Niemi is the Third Star of the month.
