Schnucks Leaps Into Health Care With Infusion Facility
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Schnucks is taking a big step into health care, now offering infusion services for customers.
“Well, it’s definitely unique for a grocery story to have an infusion pharmacy service,” says Dave Chism, Director of Pharmacy Services at the St. Louis-based grocery chain.
Chism says the infusion service works two ways.
“Home therapy is generally for people who are receiving the therapy the first few weeks after discharge and it can continue the length of the therapy,” he explains. “But folks with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or multiple sclerosis may be on infusion therapy the rest of their lives, every two to six weeks, and they want to go to a facility that’s convenient for them, that they’re able to park at and get into, that way it doesn’t interrupt their lives and work schedules.”
The new Schnucks Infusion Solutions facility is in the Westport area on the Page service road.
“We have a small center with three chairs. We offer customized appointments,” Chism added.
