ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Hundreds, possibly even more than a thousand lined up outside the Sheraton St. Louis hotel on Sunday for a chance to audition for roles in the upcoming Star Wars Episode Seven.
One of the more serious hopefuls was combat medic Matt Haynes of Kansas, “I grew up a Star Wars nut with my Dad in Florida. We’d go to Star Wars trivia nights and win. I figured with it being my favorite childhood movie, if I pass this opportunity up, I might never live it down.”
Molly Schultz of St. Louis gave KMOX a few reasons why she should be asked back for a second interview, “I think I just have an open mind. I modeled in high school, so I’m used to being in front of a camera.”
The talent directors were looking for a female in her late teens and a male in his early twenties to play tough, athletic characters.
Kiefer Smith from Fayette, Mo. had an idea what the talent scouts wanted, “Hopefully some push-ups. That would be great. I can pump out a couple of those.”
Taylor Winkler of Dupo, Ill. hoped she could impress with her knowledge of Star Wars characters, “I really like Darth Vader, even though he’s a bad guy. And, Yoda, he’s like a boss.”
No word on when any of the St. Louis auditions might get a second look.
