Our earlier version:
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The FBI is asking for the public’s help to find a man suspected of sexually exploiting a child.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children discovered video of the incident on child pornography websites in April. Photos enhanced by the FBI clearly show the face of the suspect now known by detectives as “John Doe 27.”
FBI St. Louis spokeswoman Rebecca Wu says while investigators don’t know if the video is recent or old, it doesn’t really matter.
“Just the fact that even ten years from now, if this child’s images are still being circulated, that child is still being victimized,” she said.
Wu says the suspect appears to be a Caucasian male, possible in his 40s or 50s, with dark hair, dark eyes, and balding hair in the back of his head. He is seen wearing a ring on his right ring finger.
In audio from the video, the individual may refer to himself as Jimmy. There is also a distintive plaid chair in the residence where the video was taken.
The photos are being released nationally because it’s not known where the images were created or where the suspect lives. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the FBI’s toll-free tip line, 1-800-CALL-FBI.
