St. Louis Archdiocese Warns of Typhoon Relief Scam

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Officials with the St. Louis Archdiocese say they have been alerted to an alleged scam in which the thieves are posing as the Archdiocese.

Archdiocesan officials say the scam artist pretended to be from the Archdiocese of St. Louis and asked people if they would like to donate to Typhoon Haiyan relief.

During this alleged incident, the caller asked for a credit card number.

Church officials want people to know that they are not soliciting donations over the phone for this purpose. They’re only accepting donations through special collections at Sunday Masses and through the mail.
