ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis police are asking for help in locating the driver of an older-model dark-colored Jeep Cherokee that ran over a man and left him to die in the roadway.

It happened around 2:30 Sunday morning in the midtown area at Chouteau and Grand.

A witness told police the victim walked up to the jeep at a stop light, and reached with both hands into the vehicle.

It was then that the driver hit the gas, knocking the man under the vehicle.

A bystander tried to stop traffic, but was unable to keep a second vehicle from running over the victim.

The man’s name has not been released.
