William Coppel is the managing director and chief client growth officer at First Clearing Correspondent Services, an affiliate of Wells Fargo & Company.
Bill leads First Clearing’s organic growth and adoption initiative in the role of chief client growth officer. He is responsible for managing a team of growth consultants who work one-on-one with client firms and their advisors to develop unique programs that support the increase of financial advisor productivity and overall firm growth. Bill also oversees First Clearing’s brand and market position by leading a team of seasoned communications and marketing professionals. He is a member of the First Clearing Senior Management Committee.
Bill brings more than 20 years of financial services experience spanning retail sales, marketing, product development, and operations. Starting his career as a financial advisor, he has held positions including branch manager, national sales director, director of marketing and advertising, director of product development, director of strategic planning, as well as senior-level positions on the clearing side of the business. Bill is active in the industry, having served on the Financial Services Institute Broker-Dealer Conference Task Force and the SIFMA Membership Committee, and was a long-time member of the SIFMA Sales & Marketing Committee.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Fairfield University and an MBA from Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, and is a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
