McCluer High School Student Brings Loaded Gun to School

FLORISSANT (KMOX) – Police took a student from McCluer High School into custody this morning after a loaded gun was found on school property.

School officials say they received credible information from a fellow student that the 15-year-old brought a gun to school at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. That student was immediately detained and the loaded firearm was discovered.

“Thanks to students who see things and report them, as they should, this information came to the attention of school officials,” said district spokeswoman Jana Shortt. “This all happened without incident.”

In a letter sent out to parents, school officials said there was no indication the student intended to use the weapon on school property.

The student is charged with possession of stolen property and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the District’s Student Code of Conduct, a student may not possess, transmit or handle any weapons on school property, and expulsion proceedings will be initiated for any student in possession of a firearm on school property.
