ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-The Jennings man who was found guilty of killing his uncle during an argument over what kind of meat they were cooking has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

John Cunningham was sentenced this morning for voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the September 2012 shooting death of Lessie Lowe. He received 12 years on each count, to run concurrently.

Cunningham shot Lowe with a shotgun after they had argued over whether they were cooking pork steaks, or pork chops, at Lowe’s St. Louis home.  Police say they were pork steaks.

A jury convicted Cunningham in November.
