Moviegoers Flock To ‘Lone Survivor’

Based on the best-selling book of the same title, the new release “Lone survivor,” easily sold the most movie tickets last weekend with a total of $38.5 million. The true story of a squad of Seals who got cornered on a clandestine mission had the only survivor of the failed operation as a technical advisor. Many moviegoers are expressing strong positive impressions of “Lone Survivor.”

Propelled by fabulous word of mouth, Disney’s animated feature “Frozen” continued hot ticket sales with $15.1 million. For eight weeks in release, “Frozen” has sold $317.7 million, far exceeding original projections. “Frozen” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” were the most popular motion pictures of the holiday movie season.

“The Wolf of Wall Street,” directed by Martin Scorsese, was third with $9 million. The film runs two hours and 59 minutes, which limits it box office potential by about 20%. Newcomer “The Legend of Hercules” finished a disappointing fourth with $8.6 million.
