ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis defensive end Robert Quinn had one of the best seasons ever for a Rams player, and he’s reaping the benefits of his success.

Already named to the NFC Pro Bowl squad and NFL first-team season honors, it was announced Wednesday that the University of North Carolina alumnus has been selected the Pro Football Writers of America “Defensive Player of the Year” in the NFL.

Quinn led the NFC in sacks with 19. He recorded sacks in 11 of 16 games. He broke the Rams franchise record for most sacks in a season. And, he led the NFC in forced fumbles.

The Pro Football Writers of America selected Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning their season MVP and “Offensive Player of the Year.”

In other postseason honors, the PFWA picked Rams punt returner Tavon Austin & linebacker Alec Ogletree to their “All Rookie Team.”
