ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Fans of the Memorial Day weekend Blues Festival in Downtown Saint Louis will have to go to a new location to hear it this year. This year it’s getting moved to Chesterfield.
And the once free event will now come with a ticket price of $10 but event director of Blues Week, Mike Kosiela, tells KMOX it was too costly to hold at Soldier’s Memorial.
“It’s so crazy expensive to fence off 5 or 6 city blocks and then put guards up and make sure no one sneaks in and staff it all. It’s just outrageously expensive to do what we do and so this was a really easy solution,” says Kosiela.
The Blues festival will be held this Memorial Day weekend at the Chesterfield Amphitheatre on May 24th and 25th.
