CASEYVILLE, Il. (KMOX) – The Caseyville police chief who has been fired and rehired twice now will remain in office until the village board decides his fate.
Judge Stephen McGlynn says Chief Jose Alvarez needs to stay in office until a replacement is found.
“It’s very important that there not be any confusion about who the chief of police is of Caseyville, or any other community,” he says. “We need to make sure that there’s respect for the chain of command, and in emergency situations, people need to know who’s in charge.”
He says the village’s governing board will meet on March 18 and decide if Alvarez should go, and if he does, who should replace him.
