ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It’s something that Cardinal fans have always known to be true—but now someone has applied real science to determine that St. Louis is number one for baseball fan loyalty.
For the first time, St. Louis grabbed the number one spot, just above the Philadelphia Phillies, the Boston Red Sox, the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants.
Robert Passikoff with the consumer loyalty indexer Brand Keys says they talked with actual fans across the country and ranked MLB teams for authenticity, history and tradition, fan bonding and “pure entertainment.”
“With the Cardinals, all the parts seemed to work together,” he says.
A few Cardinal fans hanging out at Ballpark Village seemed to agree with that assessment.
“My dad raised me as a Cardinals fan, and I fell asleep listening to a transistor radio,” said one man. “It’s true red all the way.”
“It’s a city dedicated to their team,” said one woman. “Because this is a baseball city.”
The Cubs, who are in town to face the Cardinals for the weekend, ranked 16th for team loyalty.
