Excessive Heat Warning Extended

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – An excessive heat warning for the St. Louis metro area has been extended until eight Tuesday evening.

The heat index is expected to top out between 110 and 112 degrees over the next two days.

Sunday afternoon’s heat index could approach 110 degrees.

Saturday was a “record-setting” weather day in St. Louis, without much celebrating.

The National Weather Service says a record high minimum temperature was set for August 23rd at Lambert St. Louis International Airport.

The mercury only fell to 80 degrees – beating the record of 79 set in 2007.
