COLOMBIA, S.C. (CBS St. Louis) – A soldier back home for the holidays is being kicked out of his wife’s apartment because the landlord claims he has overstayed his welcome, reports WHNS-TV.
Sgt. William Bullock, who is stationed in Missouri, has been at his wife’s home in the town of Central, South Carolina, ever since she gave birth to their daughter about two weeks ago.
“I’m stationed in Missouri and we haven’t seen each other in six months. What’s the problem with me staying and visiting with my wife?” Bullock asked.
But the landlord, who would only give his name as “Chuck,” claimed Bullock’s name is not on the lease and he is not allowed to stay more than a week.
Bullock fears his wife Lily, a college student and new mother, could be evicted if the landlord follow through on his threats.
“He stated to me that he didn’t care about our situation, he didn’t care about me being in the military,” Bullock said, adding the landlord threatened to double the rent and bring legal action if he stays at his wife’s home.
Bullock tells the station they are trying to sit down with the landlord and a mediator to resolve the situation.
