COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) — The historic catsup bottle in Collinsville is still up for sale.
Mike Gassman with Big Tomato says there hasn’t been any serious interest since the owners put it up for sale nearly a year ago.
And he doesn’t want to think about the possibility of the landmark coming down.
“Being in the historic preservation world, we know unfortunately that (it being on the National Registry of Historic Places) doesn’t always save a landmark,” Gassman says.
The ongoing construction on Illinois Route 159 has prompted the World’s Largest Catsup Bottle Festival to move for its scheduled July 12 celebration date, but Gassman says the construction just became too much.
“We threw in the towel and decided to move away from the construction area and head out to Collinsville Woodland Park,” Gassman says.
