David Eckstein is a name that will go down in St. Louis Cardinals history as the hero of the 2006 World Series. He will always be remembered for his heroic play in Game 5 against the Detroit Tigers and his rise to the big leagues after many thought he’d never make it.
Six years removed from the big leagues, Eckstein would tell you he’s busier than ever, but in a different role. His wife would label him as “the bat carrier” this time around. Even though he may not be playing, David is as close to baseball as he ever has been.
So what keeps Eckstein busy these days? I caught up with him to chat about his wife’s successful business, his push to return to MLB, and remembering that 2006 historic run.
