Could There Be 2 Ferris Wheels in the Works for Downtown STL?

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A possible plan to put a 20-story ferris wheel at the site of Mike Shannon’s restaurant in downtown St. Louis is raising the ire of the man who owns the Hilton at the Ballpark.

Bob O’Laughlin of St. Louis-based Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM) says a ferris wheel would block views of Busch Stadium from his hotel.

O’Laughlin is also on record saying he wants to install a ferris wheel at one of his other properties just blocks away — Union Station.

The Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority has tabled a request by an entity controlled by Mike Shannon to remove a 35-foot height restriction that’s in place for the property, although they’re not saying they want a ferris wheel.
