North County Ballpark Named After Cards Pitcher

BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, Mo. (KMOX) – One of the most beloved members of the Cardinals for the past decade was on hand, Wednesday, to see his name go up on a new youth baseball diamond in north St. Louis County.

Pitcher Adam Wainwright was a driving force behind the creation of Wainwright Field at Bob Russell Park in Bellefontaine Neighbors.

It is the 22nd field established through the Cardinals Care charity since 1997.

The Cardinals matched a grant from MLB’s Baseball Tomorrow Fund to assist Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club in creating Wainwright Field.
