Still No Cause Following Two Suspicious Deaths in Collinsville

COLLINSVILLE, IL (KMOX) – There still is no clear cause in two suspicious deaths in Collinsville.

Last week, 27-year-old Zachary Schellenberger was found dead in an open field by the Catsup bottle water tower.

A few days later, the death of 48-year-old Douglas Delashmit was discovered when authorities found his body in a trash container.

Collinsville Police Lieutenant Gary Scaggs says foul play is not suspected in either death. When asked if the deaths could be the result of heroin overdoses, Scaggs says toxicology tests are pending on both men. The results are expected to take some time.

KMOX will follow this story and provide updates as they are available.
