MetroLink Encourages Rider Safety for National Preparedness Month

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – September is National Preparedness Month and local transit agency officials are helping to spread the word.

MetroLink’s Patti Beck is among those manning train and bus stations across the St. Louis region this week telling riders to be prepared for any and all emergencies.

Beck says “emergencies can strike at any time” and that it’s important to have a plan in collaboration with family members or loved ones.

“Sit down, figure out an action plan, put together an emergency kit, talk to your family,” she advises.

But why go to all that trouble?

“The more prepared each of us are as individuals and families, the faster the region would respond in the event of something wider-scale would happen,” Beck says.

Not only are Metro personnel handing out information to passengers, they are giving them an opportunity to win a free American Red Cross prep kit.

Log onto Metro’s website by September 30th for a chance to win the free prep kit.

This is a joke right? Metro Link is one of the worst places to be for safety in St. Louis, the drug gangs run the Hanley road station and there in nothing stopping the freeloading on any stop. Ridership continues to drop because of the crime on and near the Ghetto Ling stops. I tell friends and others who come to St. Louis not to ride the Metro because of the crime.
