ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The new Murmuration Festival debuts tonight in midtown St. Louis.
Festival co-founder Travis Sheridan says the Murmuration Festival, held in the Cortex Innovation District, will bring together artists, musicians, scientists, inventors to share their work. The festival name derives from a flock of starlings.
“If you’ve ever looked up at the sky and seen beautiful birds moving in unison, that’s really what a murmuration is,” Sheridan says. He adds that despite the flocking moving as one, they never collide.
The other co-founder of Murmuration is Brian Cohen, who originally founded Lou-Fest.
The festival features “thought stages,” art installations and concerts.
Electronic artist Jennifer McDaniel, who goes by “ICE,” will perform at Murmuration.
“I got started here in St. Louis when I moved here 12 years ago,” McDaniel says. She adds her background spans from country to folk to club music, which will influence her performance at Murmuration.
The festival starts at 6 tonight and runs through the weekend.
