St. Charles County Passes Prescription Drug Monitoring Program

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) – On Monday, the St. Charles County Council passed a measure to help curb opioid painkiller addiction through electronic tracking. The measure was passed in a unanimous decision.

The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program helps prevent doctor shopping, where patients visit multiple doctors in order to obtain painkiller prescriptions. Doctors will be able to consult an electronic database before prescribing the medicine.

St. Louis City and County are also set to participate in the program.
