Cardinals Begin Offseason Changes

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Offseason changes are taking place in the ballpark and on the roster for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Workers began this week removing the grass field surface at Busch Stadium so the drainage and irrigation systems can be upgraded for the park’s 11th season in 2017.

The Cardinals announced Thursday that pitcher Mitch Harris and catchers Alberto Rosario and Michael Ohlman have been outrighted, to clear space on the 40-man roster for any free agency signings.

A U.S. Navy lieutenant, Harris did not pitch in 2016 due to arm problems.

Rosario served as Yadier Molina’s primary backup this past season, starting 8 games.

Ohlman never made it up to the big leagues, spending most of his time in the system at the AA and AAA levels.
