Overnight America interviews: October 19th, 2016 – Melissa De la Cruz, Michael Bakich

Immigrants in the United States and their U.S.-born children number approximately 81 million people, or 26 percent of the overall U.S. population! But being an immigrant is far different today than in the days when boats from Western and Central Europe landed on Ellis Island.  Author Melissa De la Cruz brings to life the modern era of a new generation of immigrants in her latest book “Something In Between”.  Melissa shares all the details with Jon about what it’s like to be a modern-day immigrant.

Astronomy Magazine’s Senior Editor, Michael Bakich, joined us to talk about the upcoming Solar Eclipse next year and how you can prepare for it both for viewing and for how it might affect the weather.  Michael wrote the book “Your Guide to the 2107 Solar Eclipse” and shares insight about it with Jon this morning.
