ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Drug overdoses from synthetic marijuana are on the rise in downtown St. Louis. Many are being found collapsed near the New Life Evangelistic homeless shelter. But it’s a different story near another homeless shelter in the city.
Eddie Roth with the City of St. Louis says the Biddle House serves the same population as the New Life Evangelistic shelter, but has not seen any of those emergency medical calls.
“I think that’s a product of excellent supervision at our facility,” Roth says. “We really keep a watchful eye on people and there’s not the same kind opportunity for people to be selling and using the drug at Biddle.”
He says so far the Biddle House has gone very smoothly. Every day they’re making progress helping get men off the streets of St. Louis.
