Early Morning Fire Kills One

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A woman dies in a Bevo neighborhood fire early this morning.

The fire in the 3900 block Schiller Place in South St. Louis claimed one victim, a 28-year-old woman.

Neighbors say they saw “fireballs” shooting from the house as heat melted the home’s siding.

Neighbors were able to leave their own homes safely as the fire spread briefly, flames burning the siding off the homes on either side.

Firefighters had a tough time getting to the house because of vehicles parked on both sides of the street, including in front of a hydrant.

The cause remains under investigation.
