Giant Steps of St. Louis is a therapeutic school and summer camp dedicated to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Giant Steps programs develop academic, social and vocational skills to maximize each student’s individual potential.
Giant Steps was opened in 1994 by a group of determined parents who believed their children deserved the best practices available. Now in its 24th year, Giant Steps provides one-to-one instruction and cutting-edge therapies. The school’s environment and treatment approach are designed to reduce sensory stressors so students can learn and make progress, and some Giant Steps students are able to return to their neighborhood schools. All students learn work skills practicing real jobs at school and in the community. After graduation students have been successful finding supported employment in the community and attending college.
Giant Steps employs and trains staff dedicated to understanding the challenges of ASD. Giant Steps offers programs to assist families and caretakers to understand the challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Giant Steps serves students with Autism and Emotional Disorders ages 3-21 and is certified by the Missouri Department of Education and Secondary Education and the Illinois Board of Education.
Located in Maplewood, MO, Giant Steps has become a vital member of the Autism community.
