ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A Kirkwood company has been ordered to pay the US government $1.5 million in a forfeiture.

The US attorney’s office says Seiler Instrument and Manufacturing Company used material imported from China in its weapon sights in a Department of Defense contract. The company has admitted that the parts were improperly certified as compliant with the Buy American Act.

The Buy American Act and the International Traffic in Arms regulations place limitations on the export of restricted technical data used in the manufacturing and procurement process to countries like China.
