Kevin Wheeler

kevin wheeler1 Kevin WheelerKevin Wheeler comes to KMOX after spending the first 10 years of his professional radio career with the Chicago-based Sporting News Radio Network (known as One-On-One Sports prior to 2001). He joined the network in December of 1995 as an unpaid intern and worked his way up from the very bottom.

After spending nearly 5 years hosting a regular weekend show and filling in on weekdays, he moved the Kevin Wheeler Show to weekday overnights (1-5 AM Central) on Sporting News Radio beginning in late January 2002 and continuing until December of 2005.

Kevin has served as a lead writer and editor for John Benson’s Diamond Library publications and as The Sporting News’ Minor League Baseball Expert from late 2001 through the end of 2005.

He has also served as a baseball analyst on radio stations all over North America and he works as a baseball instructor for All-Star Performance in Kirkwood and with The Gamers travel program. Kevin was a baseball player in a former life, reaching the peak of his career as a bench warmer for the Miami Hurricanes in the early 90’s.

When he’s not on the air, at a game or spending time with his family, Kevin is mostly likely watching sports on TV, listening to music (the louder the better!), playing video games or somehow doing all three at once.

Kevin and his wife, Susan, are both 1994 graduates of the University if Miami, FL. Their daughter, Shannon, is a devout animal lover (like her parents) and does a fine job helping them take care of their three dogs when she is not busy playing with friends or doing her homework.

WHEELER: Pride Drives Albert Into The Angels’ Arms

On many occasions Albert has said “it’s not about the money.” Apparently what he really meant to say was “it’s not about how much money I have to spend on material things.”

WHEELER: Assumptions Regarding Potential Pujols Contract Are Pointless

Here are the two arguments I’ve heard the last couple of days regarding the Albert Pujols negotiations: 1) You can’t afford to let a player of this magnitude walk away, it could decimate the franchise. [...]
