Memorial Day At Jefferson Barracks

5/28/12-Despite the heat and humidity, thousands of people turned out for Memorial Day events throughout the St. Louis region Monday, including the annual remembrance at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. "My service does not go back as far as many of you," said keynote speaker Lee Metcalf, Rear Admiral USNR (Ret.). "Nor have I suffered the hardships and the wounds that many of you have endured. But it spans the spectrum of emotions this country has displayed towards its military and those who serve." Cong. Russ Carnahan, St. Louis mayor Francis Slay and county executive Charlie Dooley also addressed the crowd. (KMOX/Brett Blume)
