Like so many other things these days, the announcement came via Twitter -- the Cardinals let the world know that work on Ballpark Village had begun in earnest.

The tweet read "Structural steelwork has begun on Ballpark Village -- let the countdown to Opening Day 2014 begin!".

The $100 million first phase of Ballpark Village just north of Busch Stadium will include a restaurant, a rooftop seating deck for watching the game, and the first-ever Cardinals Hall of Fame. (KMOX Brett Blume) Ballpark Village Starting To...

6/21/12-Fireworks went on sale this week, and tents like this one are popping up all across Missouri, most located near interstates to capitalize on sales to folks passing through prior to the July 4th holiday. Stands like this one, Fireworks City on Hwy. 109 in Eureka, can stay open through July 10th, when they're mandated to halt sales. Fireworks City-Eureka manager Mary Corbett isn't worried about the extremely dry conditions across the state this year and its possible negative impact on sales. "It's dry now," she tells KMOX News, "but every year on the 3rd, if you look it up, it rains like crazy." (KMOX/Brett Blume)
