Later today in Kansas City, a judge is set to begin listening to arguments in a case that challenges Missouri’s refusal to recognize same-sex unions performed in other states.
Despite Missouri’s ban on gay marriage, the Missouri National Guard is providing military benefits to same-sex couples.

The local religious communities are reacting differently to the Supreme Court ruling that struck down the Defense of Marriage Act.
The federal Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as between one man and one woman, some federal benefits aren’t afforded.
