32-year-old Robert L. Bunch of Doe Run entered the plea on Friday to a charge of attempted manufacture of meth as a prior and persistent offender. Prosecutors will seek a 24-year prison term.
Bell testified Bonds revealed his steroids use to her only once, between 1999 and 2000 at her apartment.
“I would want to help Barry then and would want to help Barry now,” Hoskins said.
Defense lawyer Allen Ruby insisted Bonds testified truthfully before a grand jury in December 2003 when he said he did not know he was using a pair of designer steroids.
Prosecutors wanted to introduce the voicemails to show that Bonds was experiencing so-called “roid rage”.
