“The one goal is to make sure that every student in the state of Illinois is reading at or above grade level by the time they finish third grade.”
In February, the mayor of Chicago announced that all of the city’s kindergartens would become full-day.
Almost every aspect of these students’ school day is in Spanish. Only one flight of stairs away, another class is doing the same thing in French. Everything from classwork to art class is in a foreign language immersing children in a bilingual environment.
It looks like the Parkway School District is going to make some changes to the school day, for middle school and kindergarten students.
