As Kyle Deatherage is laid to rest on Saturday, loved ones ask for everyone to practice safe driving and to recognize the dangers police officers encounter in keeping the public safe.
State Police say 32-year-old motorcycle Trooper Kyle Deatherage died at the scene of the accident shortly after 9 a.m. Monday along Interstate 55 near Litchfield.
Police say the accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on northbound Interstate 55.
This one will be in Litchfield, where there’s Historic Route 66 and an even earlier alignment known as Old Route 66.
No reports of structural damage or injuries
“When she got up, she had blood all over her body which wasn’t her own blood, it was blood of other people. She saw the person who had died on the bus.”
In less than a week, the company saw two fatal accidents. In one, a bus crashed in central Illinois, killing one person. In the other, the mirror on one of the company’s buses hit and killed a pedestrian.
The Megabus struck her as the driver attempted to make a turn on a downtown street.

Officer Mike Link with the Illinois State Police has confirmed to KMOX News that one person has died in this afternoon’s Megabus accident.
