Locust Street

11/28/11-For those who couldn't afford to go out shopping on "Black Friday", it was "Bright Monday" according to the Reverend Larry Rice with New Life Evangelistic Center. For the 5th year now, he opened up his "Christmas Free Store" at the NLEC. Several tables were stacked high with items, and groups of people were let in for 15 minutes at a time to take as much as they wanted, free of charge. The NLEC Christmas Free Store will be open from 10 to 11:30 am through this Friday. Rev. Rice says they need a lot more in the way of donated items to help the estimated 1,500 to 2,000 people expected to pass through this week. Used toys, clothing, household items and gift wrapping can be dropped off at NLEC at 1411 Locust St. downtown. (KMOX/Brett Blume)
