To make room for Jay and Carpenter’s additions to the team’s 25-man roster, the team optioned first baseman Matt Adams and outfielder Adron Chambers to Memphis.
The Cardinals have disabled five players in the past week, including Jon Jay, Allen Craig, Kyle McClellan, Lance Berkman and Matt Carpenter.
