Judge Cook was arrested two months after the trial on charges of possessing heroin and a having a gun while on controlled substances.

34-year-old Sean McGilvery is accused of conspiring with two others to buy drugs for resale in the Belleville area. Judge Joe Christ died when he and a former judge were using the drugs.
State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly said the alleged ticket-fixing surfaced during an audit of Joe Christ’s work as a prosecutor under Kelly before Christ died in March.
Wearing cutoff shorts and a T-shirt with the slogan “Bad is my middle name,” St. Clair County Circuit Judge Michael Cook pleaded not guilty.
