Wise Warrior MMA programs are fitness oriented, providing workouts that include Brazilian jiu jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, strength training and yoga. Using MMA techniques, Wise Warrior promises a solid, challenging workout. Students engage in non-competitive mixed martial arts training through group fitness classes or personal training. St. Louis Family Martial Arts Academy has operated for more than 20 years and is one of the largest and most successful schools in the St. Louis area. The academy offers programs for families, kids and adults. Each class offered is age-specific and includes free belts and exams. The academy teaches skills such as positive thinking, respect for authority, paying attention and good manners. The academy also offers programs for children with disabilities such as Down’s syndrome and autism. These programs for children with disabilities are offered through the Pujols Foundation.

The St. Louis Combat Institute sponsors the Pit MMA and the young warriors program. Class instructors are members of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, former military and U.S. State Department protection specialists. The Pit Mixed Martial Arts program, designed by trainer John “Pit Master” Hackleman, works well at most any fitness level. The program is geared toward those who want to learn mixed martial arts but prefer not to compete. There is a structured curriculum for each class that covers aspects of standup and ground fighting, boxing, submission grappling, judo, kickboxing, jiu jitsu and wrestling. The Young Warriors program, developed with the assistance of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, equips kids ages 4 to 12 with the skills to defend themselves. Children learn basic jiu jitsu, Israeli krav maga, Russian martial arts and fitness skills, while focusing on improving motor skills and listening.

The St. Louis Training Circle MMA club caters to serious-minded adults who want to improve their level of fitness and focus on technical fighting techniques. Expect great fellowship without the bowing and sensei obsessions other gyms encourage. The club offers wrestling, boxing and Thai boxing, and Brazilian jiu jitsu as self defense and combat sports. The training is intense, and students are encouraged to train often, adding cardio and weights in addition to the program training circle.
